Liverpool striker set to leave on loan as wages stall departure

first_imgBesiktas could attempt to land Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli on loan with his wage demands currently scuppering a permanent switch.According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, Besiktas have decided they cannot afford the £4.6m salary which the striker has requested.The 25-year-old arrived at Liverpool from AC Milan in a £16m deal two years ago but has managed just one Premier League goal for the Merseyside club.He spent last season back on loan at Milan but started just eight Serie A games and scored only once in the league.He is expected to leave Anfield this summer as he does not feature in Jurgen Klopp’s plans and Besiktas are one of the clubs keen on conclude a deal.However, it has been suggested that his wage demands are so far preventing a switch which may mean they attempt to agree a loan deal instead.Should Liverpool accept the request, they could pay a portion of Balotelli’s wages during the loan just to get him off the books in some way.The Italy international has two years left on his current deal at Liverpool but he may choose to join Besiktas for the promise of regular first-team football – and a shot at the Champions League next term. 1 Liverpool striker on loan at AC Milan last year last_img read more
