We teach them how to prepare children for testing,” Phillips said. “With the Latino parents, we take them into the computer lab and show them Web sites that will translate things from English to Spanish and vice versa.” To promote the program, teachers and parents sold craft work and jewelry Saturday at a holiday boutique. In addition, a parent who owns a construction company brought in a work crew to make small dry-erase white boards out of big sheets of shower boards for the school’s 1,100 students.
