Crunchyroll Hits 1 Million Paid Subscribers

first_img Cut the Cord and Subscribe to These Streaming TV ServicesBest Horror Anime Available For Streaming Crunchyroll, the massively popular anime streaming service, has grown to 1 million paid subscribers and 20 million total users. If you thought anime was still part of a niche audience that people weren’t interested in exploring, these numbers should prove otherwise, especially in a market where video-on-demand services like HBO Now and CBS All Access are drawing in subscribers by the millions. Anime and manga are their own formidable force for audiences who want to consume anime by the truckload and even the casual viewer. It’s been a long way to the top, especially since the service made its debut back in 2006, but the service has been expanding ever since then. It first introduced its paid subscription service in 2009, and as of 2015, the paid user count had totaled 750,000 already. It’s a pretty interesting testament to anime and manga’s growing popularity as a hole. The boom in subscribers has also empowered the service to go beyond its streaming and community, with its first Anime Awards being held last year that let users vote for they favorite series over 14 different categories. This year, the company will be holding its first Crunchyroll Convention, which will happen this August in Santa Clara, California. It will also be launching its own event called Movie Night, which will happen at four times a year across 250 theaters and will include series season premieres, movies, and other exclusive content.AdChoices广告If you haven’t experienced Crunchyroll just yet, you might consider hopping on board if you’re a fan of subbed (and dubbed) anime with plenty of shows to choose from.
