POSITION SUMMARY:TheProgramDirector is amember of thefaculty(rankcommensuratewithexperience)who alsoholds anadministrativeappointmentrelated tomanaging aspecificprogram orprograms.Responsibilitiesinclude:classroominstruction,day-to-dayprogramoperations,assistingstudentstoward successful term-by-term progression andgraduation, partnering with Campus leadership and the admissions,academic support and financial aid staff to generate a prospectivestudent pool, partnering with the Campus President or Director tomaintain program viability, and staffingthe classroomwithinstructorswho support theMission of theUniversityand provide a high-quality learningexperiencefor the student. TheProgramDirector engagesin professional associations,businesses and the local community as necessary topromotethe visibility andstature of theprogram(s). The Program Directorabides bythe mandates setby the SouthUniversityBoard ofTrustees,Chancellor,Vice ChancellorofAcademicAffairs,the CampusPresident or Director, andthe CampusExecutiveCommittee.KEY JOB ELEMENTS: Experiencewithcomputerizedadministrativesystems.Proficientwith the use ofstandardofficeapplicationson personalcomputers. Abilityto read,understand,interpret andimplementaccreditationcriteria andstate agencyregulations. Collaboratewith the Campus Director or Directorof Academic Affairs and Operations (DOAAO) andfellowDirectorsand withthe DepartmentChair concerning:scheduling,sharingfaculty,curriculumand other issues to support student learning and facilitateefficient resource use. Facilitatethesubmissionof required programmaticreports anddocumentation,includinggraduationrates,performanceon statelicensingorcertificationexaminationsandemploymentrates. A minimum of 18 graduatesemester hours in the teaching discipline is required. Candidateswith a Ph.D in Mathematics of Statistics are preferred. Significantexperience and college-level teaching experience preferred;applicants with a minimum of five years of Mathematics teachingexperience below the college-level alsoconsidered. Select,train,develop,manage, andleadregular andadjunctfacultyaccording totheguidelinesprovidedby the Campus Director/DeanofAcademicAffairs,the Department Chair and inaccordance withthe policiesand proceduresof theUniversity/Campus. REQUIREMENTS: Collaborate with academic counsellors andadmissions, financial aid and student services personnel to assistwith enrolling qualified students. Participate in program-relatedCampus events as indicated, including New Student Orientation,Pinning or other ceremonies, graduations, etc. Abilitytoresolveinquiriesandcomplaintsfromemployees,students,regulatoryagencies, ormembers of theacademic orbusinesscommunity. Partner with the campus leadership(President, Director and/or Dean) to generate a strategicenrollment plan for the program. Notifythe College Dean and campus Director/DOAAO of anyexpected orunexpectedsubstantivechange within the programandof any changeininstitutionalaccreditationstatus or legalauthority toprovidepostsecondaryeducation. Support College-level initiativesand directives to maintain compliancewithaccreditationand state regulatorycriteriaand adhere to allUniversity and campus policies and procedures. In the absence of a DepartmentChair, partner with the College Dean to oversee accreditationactivities on his/her campus which are normally handled by theDepartment Chair. Participateinfacultydevelopmenteach year asrequired. Inpartnership with campus leadership, develop and support a plan foroutreach activities to generate a prospective student poolsufficient to sustain and grow the program, consistent with thestrategic enrollment plan. Effectivelyadministerandgrow the program(s)includingcurriculumdevelopment, programassessment, studentregistration/advisement,andcommunityand campusrelations. Supportand execute as neededUniversity initiativesdesigned toachievestudentcompletionrates as outlined inthe University’sstrategicplanning.
