Deer Isle-Stonington girls edge Bucksport to reach 12-0

first_imgBUCKSPORT — The Deer Isle-Stonington girls’ basketball team improved its record to 12-0 on the season Monday with a 46-39 road win against Bucksport.Junior Lily Gray and freshman Kaylee Morey provided 10 points each for undefeated Deer Isle-Stonington, which withstood a 21-point performance from Bucksport senior Cassie Coombs to earn the road victory. The Mariners are four games away from completing an undefeated regular season.Deer Isle-Stonington had previously defeated Bangor Christian on Wednesday and completed a season sweep of George Stevens Academy on Thursday. The team is scheduled to face Searsport (3-6) at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, before playing its final road game of the season against Greenville (3-6) at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 24.Bucksport (2-9) faces two more tough road games in the coming days.
