…empowers women to develop personally and professionallyThe Women in Business Expo is not just an event that caters for the empowerment of women in the area of business skills and marketing but also provides a platform for females from all walks of life and various careers to have a voice and inspire each other. Those were the words of the organiser of the event, Sonia Noel, who on Sunday on the last day of the two-day expo told Guyana Times that the turnout this year was much more than expected. Some of the women displaying their products at the Expo“We have like 67 exhibitors and some of them from the first year, second year, third year and a lot of the first years… because they develop themselves in their capacities and it is not just their businesses. And one of the things coming out is the personal development coming out from these people, we talk about health and youth and different things that help you give the world the best version of you.”She stated that the feedback has been “tremendous” and that the “Inspire You” motivational event over the years featured many phenomenal women from here in Guyana, the Caribbean and internationally.“It is not just a women expo for business. Business is part of it but it is adding value to life …we want life elevation…it is you being better, your business, your family and by extension your country, being better.”Noel noted that this is the fourth year that such an event has been hosted in Guyana and it will be repeated in years to come because of the impact that it has on the female population especially those who are focused on becoming entrepreneurs.“Small businesses definitely can contribute so much to the development of this country,” she added.Meanwhile, one of the motivational speakers at the event on Sunday, held at the Pegasus Hotel, Thandi McAllister, told this publication that the “Inspire You” activity presents a platform for women to not only share their life-changing stories but it also serves as another platform for women to be inspired by stories in their professional and personal capacities.“So that can transform lives and transformation does not have to be huge, the tiniest change is good enough and I think that is what Inspire You sets out to do. Sometimes it is difficult to recognise that stumbling blocks could be indeed stepping stones. It takes some of us longer to come to that recognition.”Additionally, Renata Burnette, another motivational speaker, stated that such an event serves to empower and enhance the lives of all the women in attendance in more ways than one.“To have a room full of women coming from all walks of life having different careers encouraging each other not knowing which space of mind they are in currently; it is really good. You never have that as often as we should so I felt as though it was the perfect timing and also it is the month for women,” she said. The Women in Business Expo 2019 was hosted by the Sonia Noel Foundation for Creative Arts, in collaboration with the Women’s Association for Sustainable Development.Every year for the past four years, this event has been held in the month of March as part of the activities attributed to International Women’s Day held on March 8.This year, the expo is being held under the theme “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”. It is referred to as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.
United legend Ryan Giggs, in his column for Skysports.com, said Pogba was best deployed in a more attacking role while former United striker Wayne Rooney suggested he is a “box-to-box” midfielder.“Paul had a very professional behaviour and this week was not different to what Paul is every week,” Mourinho told reporters on Friday.“Paul is a good professional, Paul works well, Paul likes to train. I never had one single problem with him regarding his professionalism because he really is a very good trainer, one of the guys who likes to train, enjoys to train.”The Portuguese manager said he had been confused by the speculation over Pogba’s best role in the side.“For me Paul is a midfield player,” said Mourinho. “He’s not a left back, he’s not a striker, so when people say what’s his best position for Paul to play — Paul is a midfield player.“It depends on the tactical system the team plays. You can play with two, with one, play with three. But he will always be a midfield player. It doesn’t matter the tactical system the team plays, Paul is a midfield player.“And as a midfield player, it’s difficult to find a midfield player with more potential than Paul has because Paul has everything.”– Shaw deal –Luke Shaw has played his way into being offered a new Manchester United contractMourinho also confirmed he wants to see full-back Luke Shaw handed a new long-term deal after the England international played his way back into the manager’s favour. It is understood United have already activated a clause in Shaw’s contract to keep him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2019 but Mourinho sees him remaining with the club for much longer.“I know Shaw since he arrived in the Premier League with Southampton and know his potential and quality,” he said.“Could he work in my direction? The way I like my players to be not just on the pitch but during the training week? He made a big effort.“He’s been free of minor injuries for a few months which sometimes stops the evolution and I’m really happy. The natural consequence of it is that he will have his contract and he will be a United player for years.”United head to St James’s Park to take on Newcastle on Sunday, with Mourinho never having won a league game on Tyneside in six attempts.“I don’t know why, I think it’s the only stadium in the Premier League where I have not won — also Huddersfield but I only played there once,” he said.“I think it’s difficult, honestly, I’ve always felt beautiful matches but difficult. I like to go there and like the feeling of going to (former manager) Mr (Bobby) Robson’s home.”0Shares0000(Visited 1 times, 1 visits today) 0Shares0000Paul Pogba has been an integral cog in Manchester United’s machine © AFP/File / Paul ELLISMANCHESTER, United Kingdom, Feb 9 – Jose Mourinho says his relationship with Paul Pogba remains rock solid despite having dropped his star midfielder, hitting back at pundits who questioned whether the Frenchman is being used in his best position.Pogba, 24, has been under an intense spotlight since being substituted in Manchester United’s defeat at Tottenham and left out of the starting line-up for last weekend’s home win over Huddersfield.
