DESIGNER PURSE DISCOUNTS: Overstock.com does not have a purse category, but a search for handbags yields a good selection: a Celine bag for $1,000 (originally $1,900), a Prada bag for $800 (originally $1,360) and other bags by Chloe, Tod’s and Burberry. My taste is a bit cheaper, such as a tan shoulder bag from Via Spiga for $130 (originally $250). BUFFALO EXCHANGE: The used threads at Buffalo Exchange in Sherman Oaks jumped off the rack. An Abercrombie & Fitch salmon-colored tube top was $13.50, and a pair of Seychelles red peep-toe heels with tiny bronze studs was $14. Cute print T-shirts were $6 to $14. The store buys used clothes, and the staff is friendly. Clearance items at the La Brea store are $1 on Saturday. Proceeds go to Access Books, which provides books to inner-city libraries. UCLA students get 10 percent off Sept. 15 to Sept.22 at the Westwood store. Proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Club of L.A. Visit the Sherman Oaks store at 14621 Ventura Blvd. just west of Van Nuys Blvd. (818) 783-3420. BOILING HOT: Linens-n- Things has a 12-quart stock pot for $6 (originally $30) after a 20 percent coupon code (194712697488) and $10 rebate coupon at www.insidesocal.com/bargain. Act quickly. LINCOLN LUNCH KABOBS: Never fear being called for jury duty in Van Nuys. A few doors down from the courthouse is the Hot Flaming Grill, a great lunch spot with lots of fiver options. I ordered the $4.50 Chicken Lula Kabob sandwich and was not disappointed. What came was a ground chicken kabob surrounded by shredded cabbage, lettuce and carrots dressed in a tangy lemon vinagrette mixed with Armenian spices. It was wrapped in Armenian lavash flat bread, which is similar to a flour tortilla but drier. Delish. Plenty of other $5 wrap sandwiches on the menu. My only complaint was the wrap took almost 20 minutes to come. But the service was friendly, the restaurant clean and the food tasty. Worth a repeat. Mention their Web site and get 10 percent off. Visit them at 6322 Van Nuys Blvd. (818)997-9769. Or in Santa Clarita at 19433 Soledad Canyon Road (661) 298-0115. AAARDVARK’S ODD ARK: I was impressed with how organized all the clothing was at the Canoga Park Aaardvark’s Odd Ark (yes, the extra A is intentional). The smallish but well-air-conditioned shop had plenty to offer. Straight leg Levi’s: $15; bootcut jeans: $20. Men’s work shirts ran $2 to $23; suspenders were $12. Silky Asian inspired robes were $8 to $30. A cotton summer dress by Fire was $10. I could not resist an Adidas warm-up jacket for $8. Cash or credit. No returns. Locations in Canoga Park at 21434 Sherman Way, or in Pasadena, Hollywood and Venice. GAP JEANS $10 OFF: Until Sept. 12, Gap has a coupon for $10 off a pair of regular-priced jeans. Use your Gap Card for free shipping on orders of $50 or more with the code FREESHIP. Get the coupon at www.insidesocal.com/bargain. Caveats: coupon not good at GapKids, Gap Outlet or babyGap.
