first_imgJOCKEY QUOTESJOE TALAMO, MUCHO GUSTO, WINNER: “I knew we wouldn’t get an easy lead, so I looked around to see who was going to go with us. I just wanted to get him out of there and get him comfortable. It’s amazing how well this horse relaxes.  He’s drawn the rail a lot and he’s still able to relax after he gets serious pressure. Today, he took two or three breathers around the turn and then he took off. He’s a pleasure to ride. Anybody could ride this horse. He definitely is really good seven-eighths to a mile, he can for sure go two turns. After he broke his maiden (first time out at Los Alamitos on Sept. 20), I started working him a lot in Del Mar. He never acted like a two-year-old, he acted like an older horse.”TRAINER QUOTESPHIL OVIEDO, TRAINER OF MANHATTAN UP, SECOND:  “I’m feeling really good. It looked like speed was holding all day, so for him to finish up like he did was pretty impressive. I might run him around two turns before the meet is over.”NOTES: The winning owner is Michael Lund Petersen who resides in Reisterstown, Maryland.Michael L. first_imgAt the bottom of this story you can click to see all the results from the weekend’s Even Ages Cross Country Championships held in Stranorlar. With all clubs from the county in attendance and nearly 300 juvenile athletes competing, a big thank you to everyone who came out yesterday. Thanks also to the Finn Valley club for hosting these Championships.Next week, the Uneven Ages and Novice Championships will be held in Burt, hosted by the Inishowen AC club.  The initiative shown by the Inishowen club to provide another venue for cross country running in the county is very welcome.  By bringing Donegal athletics into the heart of their community, it helps to promote athletics further in this part of the county which in turn should provide a boost to the local club.  We hope all clubs turn out in big numbers again next week to support these Championships. For your information, the course is beside the Burt GAA club with toilets, changing, etc provided at the GAA club.  This is located along the main Letterkenny-Derry Road (on the left hand side coming into Burt).  There will be signposting. To see all the results simply click here:Donegal Juvenile Cross Country Championships Even Ages 2011DONEGAL JUVENILE CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS – EVEN AGES was last modified: October 3rd, 2011 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:DONEGAL JUVENILE CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS – EVEN AGESlast_img read more
